A Boston native, Elize has been tattooing since 2005, after a two-year apprenticeship at The Painted Bird Tattoo in Somerville, Mass. Focusing on low volume, but highly individual tattoo designs, it is the goal to create tattoos that are "made to fit". Not a pair of ill-fitting jeans worn as-is off the rack; but a timeless, artfully tailored piece that is cherished for years and exceeds the wearer's original expectations. Elize's main artistic influences include Japanese and Greek mythology, classical children's illustration, antique and Baroque illustration, and both classical and pop Japanese art. Her tattooing style emphasizes intricate line work, organic fit and flow, strong shading and unexpected colour palettes.
Aside from tattooing, Elize is also trained in traditional medium and plans to branch into children's illustration. In her spare time she enjoys baking, playing the ukulele, and caring for her cat, Nimbus.
